Nutrition Counseling

In the Weight Management program at Swedish Covenant Hospital, dietitians will show you how to adjust your calorie intake to get the proper nutrients your body needs during weight loss, while still enjoying tasty foods.

The nutrition counseling process begins with an evaluation of diet and weight history, current diet choices and frequency of meals, exercise and lifestyle habits, and eating behaviors.

The nutrition evaluation is the first step in the nutrition counseling process, which will also include consultation and strategies for behavior modification. A number of follow-up sessions, which are based on the approach taken towards weight management, are necessary. Successful weight loss that is maintained over a long period of time depends on limiting the energy consumed (calories) and increasing the energy expended (physical activity).
